1. Inspirational person…
I LOVE this quick video from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He talks about his lifelong dream of playing in the NFL getting shattered when he gets cut from the Canadian Football League. But… had that not happened, he wouldn’t be where he is today. My favorite line from this one minute video… “The one thing you wanted to happen, often times is the best thing that never happened.” It’s not always easy to see past tough situations when you’re going through them, but you have to trust… you have to “have faith.” Know that you are where you are right now because, for whatever reason, it is exactly where you are supposed to be. Check out the video!
2. Dr. Google…
I have many patients that have been criticized by their doctors for using the internet when researching medical issues. It happened to me. I had a doctor roll his eyes and sarcastically ask, “Where did you read that, the internet?” I said that I did. He then told me that I was looking at the wrong sites and that the information was wrong. I told him it was from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) website, which is one website most doctors hold in highest regard (Hmmm?). In this day and age, you HAVE TO do your own research. And, by the way, “Online searching is a popular activity among doctors, with more than 70% of physicians using search engines—most often Google—at least once daily for professional purposes,” according to an annual survey by CMI/Compas. Of course, there is bogus information on the internet, but the answers you are looking for are likely also there. So use the internet, become your own scientist. Just be careful, and do not just rely on one source.
3. Product I love…
One thing that can be very annoying and frustrating is a dull kitchen knife. I found this knife sharpener, from Zwilling J.A. Henckels, about a decade ago and absolutely love it. It’s lightweight, small, and incredibly easy to use. I use it almost every time I pull out any of our straight-edge knives, ensuring a super sharp blade every time. If you’re trying to eat healthier, you will be cutting fruits, vegetables, and meats regularly. If anything is easier, we tend to be more apt to do it. And you don’t realize how dull your knives are until you cut with a freshly sharpened blade. And everyone I have given one to as a gift raves about it. For under $15, you can’t beat it!
