1. Something that impressed me these past two weeks…
Dolly Parton passed away at 80 years old last week. I can’t say that I was a huge fan of hers, as I didn’t know much of her music or career, but she always seems likeable. This past week, I have seen many video clips, interviews, and read and heard more about her. It seems like just about everybody loved her. And I am pretty impressed, as navigating a successful career in that industry and remaining popular amongst almost everyone is no small feat. What prompted me to post about her is a short video that I saw and loved of her, earlier in her career, talking about a few things… and I thought it worthy of sharing. (Thanks for sharing with me, Luke!)
2. A concerning concept I heard this week…
I heard someone talking about AI this week, and they brought up a concept called cognitive surrender… “the uncritical acceptance of AI-generated answers in place of your own reasoning and internal deliberation.” It’s a huge concern because it is leading us to abandon logical thinking. Over time, our brains will get weaker with less use as we take whatever AI says as the ultimate truth. I just posted a blog that takes a deeper dive into this issue, but if this post is all you read, my advice is to BE CAREFUL! Use AI if you want to, but don’t rely solely on AI. Step back after seeing the results of your search and do some critical thinking to make sure it makes sense, aligns with your principles, and is truly the best answer. Our brains are like muscles… if we don’t use them… we lose them. Read that blog by clicking here.
3. Thought provoking (and REALLY good) post I saw this week…
“You already have the body of your last 1,000 meals, the mind of your last 1,000 conversations, and the bank account of your last 1,000 financial decisions. Nothing about your current situation is a mystery. It’s a receipt.”
