When you aren’t feeling well, life just isn’t as good. Aches, pains, and chronic, ongoing health issues affect every area of your life. I believe most people want to feel better. The problem is… wanting isn’t enough. There’s usually a lot of doing that must occur. The more you do, the more likely you are to get, and stay, well.
There are three things that usually are required to feel better, to function better, and to overcome whatever health condition that is plaguing you. The first is time. This is also the one thing most people undervalue. All processes take time! When it comes to health and healing, the body needs time to recover, repair, and reverse ill health. You can only speed up the natural process of healing, growth, and repair so much.
By the time you know you have a condition, odds are it had been building up for a long time. Symptoms are usually the last thing to come on in a disease process. It would make sense then, that time would be required to correct whatever ails you.
The second thing usually required to regain your health and feel better is money. I agree that it stinks that everything costs so much, but when it comes to your health, it can be money well spent. Getting fully well usually requires goods and/or services. And goods and services cost money. Higher quality goods and more specialized services cost more money. But they are worth it if they help resolve your health problems. Understand that you will have to spend money to resolve a health issue and live a healthier life. You are likely spending money on going out to dinner, clothes you might not need, and other frivolous things that won’t bring you the joy, satisfaction, and relief that money spent on getting well would.
Once someone understands that time is required and money must be spent, then work must be done. It takes energy to get well. Somewhere along the way, we humans started to think that our ultimate goal is to make life easier. While I am all for taking the easiest route possible, and minimizing the amount of work it takes to do anything, there is always energy and work required. All great accomplishments came as a result of hard work. Blood, sweat, and tears are often requirements to get from where you are to where you want to be. If you’re struggling with a health condition, you simply will not get well without investing hard work. Thinking it will be easy will prevent you from getting the results you want and need.
If you’re looking for answers for a health condition, or looking to improve the quality of your life in any way, be leery of anyone promising results that are quick, that are easy, and that are cheap. If you are frustrated because you have spent the time, money, and energy, but have not gotten the results you wanted or expected, it is possible (and likely) that you have not spent the time, money, and energy on the right things.
The time, money, and energy spent on reducing sickness and maximizing your life are not only great investments… they are requirements. You simply will not get the results you want and need without investing time, money, and energy.
So… when it comes to time, money, and energy, stop saying Oh my!… and start saying OKAY!
