1. Concerning graph I saw this week…
America consumes the most medications of any country. My issue has never been that I am anti-medicine, as medications save many lives. However, when you look at the astronomical number of prescriptions filled each year, and look at how sick we are as a country, you need to realize that prescription drugs are NOT a solution. There are 256 million antidepressant prescriptions prescribed every year… 206 million statins, and 83 million for metformin (diabetes drug). WOW! One out of every 12 prescriptions filled is an antidepressant. Yikes! Why do I keep talking about this stuff??? Because there is so much influencing you to believe that the answer to your health issues is medication. What does your medical doctor USUALLY do for any health issue you have? Prescribes medication. Anyway, I saw a graph on “X” (formerly Twitter) this week that shows the staggering numbers in a powerful way. (Thanks, Dr. Matt Grant, for sharing that with me!) Remember… the number next to the drug is in MILLIONS!
2. Fun thing we did last weekend…
Lana and I did a cooking class last weekend. It was a BLAST! There is a local culinary institute (in Chesterland, Ohio), The Loretta Paganini School of Cooking, that also does a variety of cooking classes. I did not know what to expect, but I was impressed. The facilities are amazing, the chefs running the class were great, and the food was phenomenal. I definitely learned several things that I will be utilizing at home in the future. You can check out their website and the upcoming classes they are offering by clicking here. I would at least check out the schedule, as there is likely a class that will pique your interest. We will absolutely be going back! Thank you, Chef Kevin, Chef John, and Chef George.
3. Pics to make you smile….
I came across these pics (click here) on Bored Panda. They titled it as “30 Photos That Are So Wholesome They’ll Leave You Feeling Warm And Fuzzy.” There are some really good ones. I think you’ll enjoy!
