1. A salute to ALL that have served our country…
Today is Veteran’s Day! A HUGE thank you goes out to ALL those who have served our country. We tend to take our freedom for granted, but MUST remember those who sacrificed their lives, or put their lives on the line, by serving in our military. There was a painting that caught my attention as a teenager, and to this day, it is probably the painting that has rocked me the most. A man in a suit is leaning against the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall, with his head down, crying. In the reflection of the wall, you can see the guys in his platoon that were killed, with one of them holding his arm up with his hand against the man’s hand. It’s called Reflections, by Lee Tetter (see the image below). I think of it often. Anyway… THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HAVE SERVED OUR COUNTRY!
2. My fasting experience this week…
After a weekend of not-so-good eating, I decided to do some fasting. I usually skip breakfast, regularly doing an 18-hour fast. Occasionally, I’ll do longer, water-only fasts. This week, I planned on doing a 48-hour fast (no food from after dinner Tuesday evening until dinner again on Thursday). On my way out of the office on Wednesday, I was given a meal by a patient and friend. Knowing that my daughter had knee surgery this week, she had prepared this meal for us. It was a chicken pot pie and a huge bowl of fruit. But this was no ordinary chicken pot pie. This creation was award-worthy, complete with little leaves on top made out of the piecrust. This thing was LOADED with chicken and vegetables. It was the biggest/thickest pot pie you would ever see. What’s my point here? Well… my 48-hour fast became a 24-hour fast… some chicken pot pie… then another 24-hour fast. Yum! And to say THANK YOU to Deb A. for the kind and delicious gesture. See the pics below of this amazing pot pie…
3. Hilarious image that made me laugh (and you will too!)…
My buddy sent me this image in a text last week. Remember these things? Yuk! Hope it makes you chuckle. I know I did.
