1. Lyrics I love…
The story of how this great song came to be is wild. Avicii was a Swedish DJ and record producer who reached out to Dan Tyminski, a bluegrass singer-songwriter, and asked him to sing a track on his new album. Tyminski didn’t know who Avicii was and did not know what electronic dance music (EDM) was. He almost turned it down, but was convinced to do the song by his daughter. He recorded the vocals without knowing what the final music was going to be. The song was a HUGE hit, getting over one billion streams on Spotify. I love the song… I love the lyrics (about loyalty, love, and standing by your family)… and I love it all even more after hearing the story behind the song. 2. Something that is very concerning…
Lab-grown (cell-cultivated) meat was approved for production and commercial sale in the U.S. in 2023. That is CRAZY! Eight states have banned it (Ohio is NOT one of those states🙁). The fight is on. My concern… having this stuff get into our food without us knowing we are eating it. It is being served in some restaurants in some states already. Pay attention to this issue… it WILL NOT END WELL!!! And as usual… the big food companies are manipulating labels and doctoring words to get foods into our diets without us knowing it. Words to watch out for… cell-cultivated, cell-cultured, cultivated chicken, cultivated pork fat, cultured salmon, and cell-based. One company making lab-grown salmon is called “Wildtype.” Sounds natural, eh? Nothing wild about it. See Dr. Hyman’s post this week on Instagram about lab-grown meat…. It is SCARY!
3. Something else that is very concerning (sorry for all the negative info!)…
As we watch the Cleveland Guardians games, I am AMAZED at how many drug ads there are. First… the ads are absurd. Second… they spend SO MUCH money on these ads. Third… the U.S. is one of only two countries that even allows drug companies to advertise directly to consumers. Last year, drug companies spent approximately $32 billion on advertising… almost triple what they spent just 10 years ago. This amount of money is RIDICULOUS! And why can they advertise directly to consumers? Last year, Big Pharma spent a record amount on lobbyists… over $450 million. That money ensures they can dictate government policy, influence regulations, and continue overcharging us for drugs that do not CURE disease, have adverse side effects, and often have to be taken for the rest of your life. They spent $32 billion on advertising and over $450 million on lobbyists last year alone! UNBELIEVABLE!
