1. Recurring quote I keep seeing…
Jeep Wranglers have the spare tire on the back of the vehicle. They often have logos, images or quotes. I love the one that is one big smiley face, but there is one that I have seen numerous times, on numerous Jeeps, in numerous different states. I’ve taken a picture of it at least three different times. It simply says… “One life. Live it.” I love it! A simple reminder.
2. Graphic I revisited that amazes me…
While transferring data from my old laptop to my new one this week, I came across a video graphic that I used to show when doing health talks. It shows a map of the U.S. and the prevalence of obesity from 1985 until 2010. The data is CRAZY! You can watch the time-lapsed video showing the rapid growth of obesity that took place over that just 24 years. In 1985, only 8 states had 10-14% of their population that was obese. By 2010, every state had at least 20-24%, at least 75% of the states having 25-29%, and an astonishing 30% or more obesity rate in almost a quarter of the states. Two things… the data collection changed in 2011, but these obesity rates are MUCH worse today. Current stats are almost 42% of adults are considered obese, and unbelievably, almost 20% of children are obese. And… we can’t blame genes because our genes haven’t changed, yet these obesity rates have SKYROCKETED over the past several decades. Being overweight or obese is a precursor for a whole host of health issues. It is reversible and preventable. You can click the video to see how the obesity rates have blown up between 1985 and 2010 (it’s only about 1 minute long). You can also see a simple snapshot showing the difference between 1990, 2000, and 2010. AMAZING… AND SCARY!
3. Instagram clip I saw this week that acted as a reminder for me…
I’ve taken a deeper dive into the subconscious mind… and how powerful it is… this past week. I’ve been reminded how important it is to focus on the good instead of the bad, use positive words instead of negative words, and to visualize what I DO want instead of what I don’t want. I caught a quick Instagram clip with Michael Beckwith that I’ve watched a dozen times this week… just to remind myself. Check it out…
