1. Habit I am recommitting to…
In a time when customer service seems at an all-time low, I have found myself complaining about it A LOT. Well… after a really good meal with excellent service at lunch this week (Dante at Cedar Creek Grille), I have recommitted to praising those that do a great job. It’s so easy to complain about bad service (and I think it’s okay to do so), but I think it’s critical that we recognize those who go above and beyond. I can only imagine what the general manager was thinking when he headed over to me after I asked to speak to him, but to see how grateful he was to hear positive feedback reminded me that I need to do that more often. Being critical of bad service is okay… but let’s praise those who are showing up for work and are doing a great job. Oh… and if you are doing work of any kind… DO GOOD WORK!
2. News that DID NOT surprise me this week…
I have always been concerned that the chemicals in sunscreens would turn out to be more dangerous than the damaging effects of the sun. You have likely heard about the recent recalls on sunscreens because of cancer-causing chemicals. Ugh! So frustrating! A couple of brands that we use are Alba Botanica (click here for Amazon link) and Bare Republic (click here for Amazon link). I also follow Environmental Working Group (EWG) because of their commitment to researching healthier products. Click here to get to their page on sunscreens. And remember… our much healthier ancestors spent a lot of time in the sun. The sun is NOT our enemy. Be smart about sun exposure… you need it.
3. Quote I love…
“Forget the mistake. Remember the lesson.”
Lana and I were in line in a store when we saw this framed quote. We didn’t buy it, but had to get a pic of it. Such good advice!
