1. Wellness tip…
One supplement every NEEDS to take is vitamin D. Vitamin D is actually a hormone and is critical for so many functions within the body… especially the immune system. I encourage you to get your vitamin D levels checked any time you have bloodwork done. I take 5000 I.U. every day. I know I talk about this a lot, but as we go into summer, many people stop taking it. I used to stop in the summer because I am in the sun a lot. But now, I do not stop. A researcher pointed out a few years back that the body will not OVER-PRODUCE vitamin D and recommended that I take it year-round to ensure that my levels remain at a higher, healthier level. So… I take 5000 I.U. every day… including during the summer.
2. Video clip I saw this week and loved…
I’ve posted quotes before about “choosing hard.” The idea is that when we avoid doing things because they are hard, we don’t realize that the results of not doing those things are also hard. Getting fit and in-shape is hard… being overweight and sick is hard. Maintaining a great marriage is hard… living with resentment and loneliness is hard. Being financially responsible is hard… living paycheck to paycheck is hard. CHOOSE YOUR HARD! See the video clip below, as this guy articulates the Choose Your Hard message as good as anyone I’ve ever heard. And don’t just listen to it… ponder on it… think about it… and really consider it. (Note: Be sure to Unmute if necessary by tapping the screen once or by clicking the speaker symbol in the lower right corner of the video.)
3. Quote I love…
“If the ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step we take just gets us to the wrong place faster.” -Steven Covey
If you are seeking true health and wellness in a medical model with more drugs, surgeries, procedures, and tests, it will NEVER happen. The goal of medicine is NOT to achieve optimal health and vitality… it is to diagnose and treat conditions and symptoms. That ladder leads to more treatment, but NOT more wellness. One ladder masks symptoms, covers up pain, and manages conditions like blood pressure. Another ladder eliminates the CAUSE of these issues. Take drugs… or don’t. Go from doctor to doctor in search of a diagnosis… or don’t. Accept sickness and disease as normal… or don’t. The choice is yours. Just know what ladder you are on. Because if you are on the wrong ladder, expecting to get well, it will not matter how fast you go, how hard you climb, or how much money you spend, that ladder is against the wrong wall… and will get you to the wrong place… faster.
