1. Book I am re-reading…
I read the book, The Great Cholesterol Myth: Why Lowering Your Cholesterol Won’t Prevent Heart Disease–and the Statin-Free Plan that Will, by Bowden and Sinatra, more than a decade ago. They released a “revised and expanded” edition in 2020, so I re-read it then. And now, I am rereading it once again. I have recommended this book to at least 100 people. It is EXTREMELY well written and loaded with CRITICAL information for anyone taking, considering taking, or being told they must take cholesterol-lowering drugs. Cholesterol testing is outdated and misinterpreted, these drugs are way over-prescribed, they are not improving heart disease and heart attack rates, and they are much, much more dangerous than anyone is being told. I truly believe that within the next decade, this will be exposed as one of the biggest medical mistakes ever. But, since they generate roughly $20 billion each year, it might take a while before the truth is admitted. I URGE YOU to read this book if you are taking or are thinking about taking these drugs! 2. Podcast clip I’ve shared a lot this week…
I believe one of the most important things a person can do to improve their health is to improve how their body handles insulin, which is the hormone that allows cells to absorb glucose (sugar). I heard a podcast a while back with a Dr. Pradip Jamnadas, and I really liked it. I recently saw a clip that is one of the best segments of that podcast. The full podcast is 2 hours long, and this clip is only 30 minutes long. He does a really good job of explaining insulin, how we get fat, how to burn fat, and he discusses intermittent fasting. Check out this shorter segment of the podcast by clicking here. I’m a fan of intermittent fasting. This podcast inspired me to do a 72-hour (that’s 3 days) water-only fast this week. Felt great!
3. Cool thing I came across this week…
I saw a post of the miniature artwork of Akiko Ida and Pierre Javelle, two professional food photographers. They create miniature scenes using model train figurines and food. I thought it was creative, entertaining, and pretty darn cool. It was an Instagram post I saw first, which you can click on below. And then I saw all their work in the “Gallery” section of their website… minimiam.com. (Click here to get directly to that gallery page on their site.)
