1. A moving moment…
Just a couple of weeks ago, I attended an Aurora High School scholarship banquet. Recognition was given to the high school seniors who have enlisted in the U.S. Armed Forces. Of all of the scholarships and recognition given that night, the one that earned a standing ovation… the longest applause… gave me chills… and moved me the most… was the recognition of the six seniors committed to serving our country. I will be taking extra time this Memorial Day to think about all of the young men and women making such a huge and honorable commitment. Memorial Day is a day to honor the men and women who have died while serving in the military. Over 1.1 million have been killed in all U.S. wars. Think about that… all those fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, and friends sacrificed their lives so that we can have the freedoms we have and live the way we live. Wow! One of the more moving moments in my life was standing in Arlington Cemetery looking out over all of those white headstones. I am grateful for their ultimate sacrifice!
2. Story I will be following…
Over a year ago, I expressed concern about Dr. Fauci, the Wuhan lab, gain of function research, and more. Some of that stuff sounded like conspiracy theory talk. I’ll be very interested to see how the next couple of months pan out in regards to the origin of SARS-CoV-2, the role the Wuhan lab played, and Dr. Fauci’s involvement and truthfulness. I think we are all going to be rocked by what we find out.
3. Bad habit I am working on…
I have a tendency to abandon a lot of my dietary rules and habits when I am out of town or at parties. I eat more than I should… and more of the stuff that isn’t good for me. I am working on being more diligent and disciplined when in those situations. I’ll still have a cookie… not three or four. I’ll have a small piece of cake… not a big one. And I’ll make some of the not-so-healthy choices… just not a bunch of them. Indulge in these moments, just don’t abuse them.
