1. Stat no one is talking about…
We all know that the #1 risk factor for complications associated with COVID-19 is age. Do you know what #2 is??? OBESITY. I knew it was a major complicating factor, but was interested to find it was actually the second biggest risk factor. This is scary… yet exciting. Scary because half of Americans are obese. Exciting because it’s a risk factor WITHIN OUR CONTROL. Start thinking about the next crisis, and lower your risk tremendously, by shedding pounds and getting into better shape. Start today!
2. A resource I’ve used for years…
I’ve followed Brian Johnson, the founder and leader of Optimize, for many years. Optimize (optimize.me) is a site that offers Philosopher’s Notes, which contain 6-page summaries (or 20-minute audios) of more than 550 of the best “optimal living” books. I purchased a lifetime subscription (yearly subscriptions are available for under $100!), which includes all the Philosopher’s Notes, Master Classes, something he calls +1’s (which are “Daily ideas to Optimize your life”), and more. It’s a great place for me to get great summaries of the best books and many of “The Big Ideas” (as Brian calls them) quickly and easily. Here is one of the +1’s that I watched this week that resonated with me…
3. Something I am working on…
I am VERY interested in the COVID-19 testing. I think it would be incredibly valuable to know who has had it. There are labs that now offer COVID-19 blood antibody testing. There is more than one way to test, therefore I am digging in to finding the best, most accurate, and most affordable way to test that. I have found a test that I believe will be the best, and it can be done at home, but is $150 ( https://kbmodiagnostics.com/). It’s done with a finger stick and has a 48-72 hour turn-around for results. I have a colleague that has done it and is waiting on the results. I am waiting to have his whole experience completed before determining if I will use that test. I believe the virus has been around longer than we are being told. I believe millions of Americans have already had the virus and have developed immunity. I believe the testing for antibodies to indicate immunity is SUPER IMPORTANT! There are media stories saying that even if you have the antibodies you may still be prone to reinfection. I do not believe that. I will keep you posted on the testing options and update you on what I am doing for myself and my family.
