1. Great movie scene I re-watched this week…
Certain movies have scenes that we remember forever. There is a scene in the movie Hugo that I have re-watched numerous times and think of often. It’s the scene where the orphan boy Hugo Cabret, who is living in a Paris train station, is explaining to his friend Isabelle how he came to believe he is meant to be on this earth. I LOVE his explanation! Explaining will not do it justice, so watch the 3-minute clip below. And I believe part of the reason there is so much suffering, drug and alcohol abuse, depression, anxiety, and suicide, is that people fail to recognize that they are here for a reason, that they are important, that they matter, and they have a purpose. (And I think I may have posted this clip in the past, but thought it worth re-posting.)
2. Concerning report I saw this week…
Consumer Reports tested 41 baby formulas, and the results are extremely concerning. In seven of the formulas, they found organic arsenic, which is known to cause cancer. Harmful levels of lead were found in 18 of the formulas they tested. If this doesn’t majorly upset you, it should. The scary thing is that I first heard about lead in baby formula YEARS AGO, yet nothing has been done. Two of the major formula manufacturers gave two pathetic responses… saying that heavy metals and chemicals are never intentionally added to their products… and… that trace amounts of heavy metals are not a problem that is unique to infant formula. What??? Seriously? Is that supposed to make us feel better? Everyone talks about curing cancer, ending childhood diseases, and wanting better health for our children. That will NEVER happen unless we get the junk out of our food, water, and air. These metals and toxins affect brain development and function, learning issues, attention, the immune system, have been shown to cause cancer, and I’d venture to say are involved with the continued skyrocketing rates of autism. We must DEMAND all of these metals, chemicals, and toxins gets removed from ALL foods… especially the food we give to babies. The article I read recommends that “parents should always consult their pediatrician about concerns.” Just FYI… the pediatrician will likely be of NO help in this area. Click here to read one of the articles I read about this. (Thanks, Genna S., for sharing this info with me this week!)
3. Quote I love…
“Your body isn’t Amazon Prime… it takes more than two days to get what you want!”
A friend, and fellow chiropractor, shared a quote with me this week that he wrote on a dry erase board for his patients to read. A GREAT reminder! Underneath that he wrote “Stay consistent!!! Keep chiro appointments, exercise, eat well, sleep well.” Super solid advice. Be patient with your body. Healing takes time. (Thanks, Dr. Matt Grant, for sharing!)
