1. Phenomenal resource I recommend…
I’ve been following author and entrepreneur Brian Johnson for almost two decades. He created Philosopher’s Notes, where he has taken more than 700 of the top self-improvement books and created quick summaries. He does a phenomenal job… and gives you the options to read the summary, listen to an audio version of the summary, or watch a video of him sharing the summary. He pulls out what he calls the “Big Ideas” from each book. The audio summaries are only 20 minutes and very easy to listen to while working out or driving. They just released a new website and platform making it super clean and easy to find what you’re looking for and access the “notes.” You can search by book title or subject matter. I have found that I get a TON of value from the Philosopher’s Notes, and if the information resonates strongly with me, I buy the book and read the whole thing. But just the “notes” are loaded with great nuggets, wisdom, and value. I’ve had a lifetime subscription (they are continuing to add more, newer books as they come out) for many years. The cost of the lifetime membership got up to over $500 and actually was not offered for a while, but they are running a special right now where you can get a lifetime membership for only $99. That includes the 700+ Philosopher’s Notes, new notes every month, and more in-depth, deeper dives called 101 Classes (these are about 90-minute videos). Oh… and with that $99 also comes one additional lifetime membership for FREE. So, you can give that to a friend. I have no vested interest in this promotion and make no money off these memberships, but I think it is such a great value and have gotten so much out of these myself, that I felt it worthy of sharing. These Philosopher’s Notes are VERY well done! Get more info by clicking here.
2. Word that keeps popping into my head…
With all the latest headlines, stories, and social media posts creating so much divisiveness, anxiety, stress, anger, and fear, I caught myself realizing that most of it is just noise. That word… noise… keeps popping into my head. And noise is distracting, negative, and at the end of the day, not helpful. Most of us have strong positions and opinions about the most heated topics being highlighted in the media and online, but if you only have so much energy to expend each day, you MUST be careful where you spend it. My worry, anger, and frustration do NOTHING to resolve, or even impact, these issues. So, I have to be careful not to get sucked in. Why? Because I have a practice to run, patients to care for, a family to tend to, my health to build, and a community that I live in that can use real, practical, and impactful action. If you think you can make an impact on the hot news topics, by all means, go for it. Take action. But if all it is doing is getting you emotionally fired up, it is taking away from the things that really matter… the things closest to you. These are the things we CAN have an effect on. These things NEED us right now. And they need us fully focused and fully engaged. I’m not saying that you should bury your head in the sand. I’m not saying these other issues are not important or significant. What I am saying is… put your energy where you can have true, actual, and measurable impact. Don’t let the noise get in the way of you doing what the people closest to you NEED you to do. There has always been noise. There will always be noise. It just seems like the noise keeps getting turned up louder and louder. Maybe that’s intentional, maybe it’s not, but either way… DON’T LET THE NOISE KEEP YOU FROM BEING THE BEST VERSION OF YOU AND MAKING THE IMPACT YOU NEED TO BE MAKING!
3. Wellness tip…
I have seen LOTS of patients in the office these past two weeks with injuries from shoveling snow. This won’t apply to many of you living in southern, warmer climates, but… around here, we are getting A TON of snow. Watch the video below that I made with a few helpful snow shoveling tips…
