1. Podcast I listened to this week…
James Clear is the author of the great book, Atomic Habits, which has sold more than 10 million copies. I highly recommend this book, especially as we start a new year, and most of you have set new resolutions. I heard him on The School of Greatness podcast this week, and it was loaded with a bunch of great nuggets. You can find that podcast by clicking here. Setting goals is important, but creating the habits that get you to achieving those goals is critical. One great quote I pulled from that episode… “Most of your results in life are a lagging measure of the habits that preceded them.” Your financial status is what it is because of your spending/savings habits over the past few years. The shape your body is in is the result of your exercise and eating habits over the past few years. Focus this next year on creating new… better… habits!
2. Funny pic I was sent this week…
I received a text from a friend this week. I couldn’t open the text right away, but could read the first line. It read… “How is this for a fitness productivity hack?” I couldn’t wait to check it out, wondering if it was a new gadget I hadn’t seen before. When I finally got to it that night and opened up the text, here is what it was (see pic below). Ha! The funniest part is that it wasn’t something he found on the internet… this is his actual bathroom. Love it! (Thanks, John D.!)
3. A goal for me this new year…
When it comes to trying to create a better life, we are either spending time strategizing on how to make that happen, or we are executing. Truth is… I’ve been strategizing for a LONG, LONG time on many things I’ve wanted to achieve. This year, I am going to put more energy, time, and effort into execution, and less time into strategy. There is surely a time to strategize and a time to execute. We’ve all heard the words… READY… AIM… FIRE. And there are those that recommend… READY… FIRE… AIM. Both are valid. If I’m being completely honest with myself, I’ve spent way too much time (years!) aiming. It’s time to fire. Join me this new year… let’s move from the strategizing, preparing, and planning phase to the execution, creating, and completion phase. I have had to ask myself… What am I waiting for??? And I’ll ask you… What are YOU waiting for???
