1. Three questions worth asking…
While listening to Brendon Burchard on the Ed Mylett podcast this week, Brendon recounted his near-death experience that left him pondering three questions… Did I live? Did I love? Did I matter? Those questions shifted his life and put him on the path he is on now. These are questions I think we should all be asking from time to time–because it’s questions like these that we’ll likely be asking on our deathbeds. You can listen to that whole podcast here if interested.
2. Wellness tip…
We had an influx of new patients this week that were in A LOT of pain. They all said the same things… the pain started weeks (or months) ago, but it would come and go… this is the worst it’s ever been… I should have come sooner… I thought it would go away. I want to remind you that the body has a built-in alarm system to alert you that something is wrong… it’s called PAIN. It can be sharp, dull, achy, throbbing, burning, and twingy. It all means the same thing… you should get it checked out. And yes, it can come and go, but left uncorrected, it WILL get worse. Listen to your body. Take action if it is giving you signals. And be careful… medical doctors love to treat those symptoms, while overlooking the underlying cause. The pain IS NOT the problem, so pain pills ARE NOT the answer. The muscle spasms ARE NOT the problem, so muscle relaxers ARE NOT the answer. Even the high blood pressure, high cholesterol, acid reflux, and fatigue ARE NOT the problem, so popping pills to alter those IS NOT the answer. Listen to your body. Pay attention to the signals. Don’t ignore the signs. Take action. See a doctor that thinks naturally, holistically, and logically. Find out what is CAUSING those symptoms. Little problems become big problems if left uncorrected.
3. Another RIDICULOUS food chart I saw this week…
I was introduced to the Food Compass this week. According to its own website… “Food Compass is a novel nutrient profiling system developed by researchers at Tufts University. By evaluating foods across 9 domains and using a unique algorithm to determine a score, we can assign a Food Compass Score (FCS) between 1 and 100 (with 100 being the most healthful) to nearly any food.” I’ll attach a pic of the chart below (I’m copying it from Max Lugavere’s Instagram post). PLEASE NOTE… this is RIDICULOUS! Any consideration of this would be foolish!!! It is obviously influenced by the processed food industry, because no one (especially scientists) could possibly come to the conclusion that Frosted Mini Wheats and Honey Nut Cheerios are healthier than skinless chicken breast. Or that Lucky Charms or Almond M&M’s are healthier than cheese or ground beef. Lucky Charms???? Really??? I can’t make this stuff up. How stupid do they think we are? ABSOLUTELY ABSURD!!! See the chart below…
