1. Poem I love…
I realized early on in life that a key trait that differentiates those who succeed from those who fail is the act of refusing to quit. I had a copy of the poem Don’t Quit (by Edgar A. Guest) above my bed and/or desk through most of high school and college. I had it fully memorized from reading it so often. I may have posted this in the past, but it is worth re-posting. If you’re on the edge, feel like you can’t go on, or what you want to accomplish seems impossible, DO NOT QUIT!!! Here is that poem…
Don’t Quit
By Edgar A. Guest
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and debts are high,
And you want to Smile but have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won if he’d stuck it out,
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow,
You might succeed with another blow.
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might captured the victor’s cup.
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown,
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.
2. Scary stat I saw this week…
A new study shows that rates of 17 types of cancer in millennials and Gen X-ers have risen dramatically in recent years. Experts are calling them “early onset” cancers. According to an article in U.S. News and World Report, “People born in 1990 have two to three times higher rates of pancreatic, kidney and small intestinal cancer than people born in 1955, results show.” SUPER scary stat! But hardly surprising. The researchers could not identify a cause, but listed the rising obesity rate as a leading concern. I contend that it is the continued toxic overload we refuse to get a handle on. Until we do, cancers will continue to explode–as will autoimmune conditions, cognitive issues, mental and behavioral issues, etc. You can read the short article by clicking here. The article fails to list critical steps we need to take to reduce the prevalence of cancer, but does state that “the results, published July 31 in the Lancet Public Health journal, also highlight the need for comprehensive health care among middle-aged and younger Americans.” Ahhh… better insurance!?! Really??? Our focus on diagnosis and treatment of cancer (which is still pathetic) is part of the problem. We need to address the CAUSE of cancer. No money to be made in that though.😕
3. Quote I love…

***Hunger Center Collection Update…***
We extended our drive for the Twinsburg Hunger Center until August 15th. We are collecting hygiene products for the local people in need. We are off to an incredible start, so a huge THANK YOU to all who have donated… and a special shout out to Drs. David and Jane Silk for their VERY generous donation. We did drop off our first week’s collection, which was A LOT! (See the pic below of what was donated last week.) So, we still have two more weeks… and it is still a GREAT time for your family, friends, and co-workers to get checked in our office for only $25 (which includes consultation, examination, x-rays, AND first day treatment). Thanks for helping us help others!!!
