1. Failure I have to admit…
I stated in a past Friday’s Findings that I was going to have my book completed by my 50th birthday. Well… Wednesday was my birthday… and… no book. Damn! I failed to accomplish that goal. My son, Kyle, reminded us that I have been talking about writing this book as long as he’s been alive (he’s 17 years old). So… I’m recommitting to getting my book completed, as I believe it can make an impact. Stay tuned!
2. Staggering (and upsetting) statistic…
27.3% of American adults struggle with depression and/or anxiety. That means that just about 1 out of every 3 adults are suffering with these issues. That is STAGGERING! What’s even worse is that depression and anxiety in children is skyrocketing. YIKES!!! It’s time to be LESS scared, MORE purposeful, have MORE fun, engage in DEEPER relationships, do MORE of what we want, go to MORE places we have always wanted to go, become MORE connected to nature and our Creator, express MORE gratitude, pay LESS attention to the media and social media, pay MORE attention to the things that matter most, MOVE more, EAT healthier, hang out with people who LIFT YOU UP, avoid people who DRAG YOU DOWN, and to look at life like the GIFT that it is.
3. Birthday surprises…
Outside of my office Wednesday morning was a very large set of signs that read… “HONK AS YOU GO, DR. PAUL IS THE BIG 5-0!” That was sent from my family in Missouri (and South Carolina)… so thank you to the Huhman family. I am grateful for such great people in my life. I am currently out of town on a surprise birthday trip that Lana set up. Amazingly, nobody blew the surprise. So far… warm weather, beach, ocean, great food, and deep sea fishing tomorrow. That’s all I know for now. Thanks to EVERYONE who reached out with birthday wishes. I’m a little bummed so many people are so happy for me to reach the big 5-0, with comments like “it’s all downhill from here”…. “old man”… “join the club”… and “it’s about time.” Haha! I will say this… I’m looking very forward to the next chapter. My goal (besides finishing my book)… continuous growth and improvement in EVERY area of my life.
