1. Something I pondered this week…
Every time we do the whole time change thing, most of us wonder why we are still doing this. It is a mostly outdated act, serving no real purpose, and is a hassle for most of us. Every time we do the time change, I take a moment to reflect on anything I may be doing just because I have always done it. I take a quick inventory of things I currently do that are unnecessary, a waste of time, done simply out of habit, or even hurtful or harmful to my productivity and life. If you ask yourself why you continue to do something, and the answer is “because this is the way I’ve always done it,” then you need to review that and reconsider it. The time change allows me– twice per year–to quickly reevaluate some of my behaviors that are no longer serving me. As we ask ourselves… does the time change serve us anymore?… we can also ask ourselves if other regular behaviors and habits serve us anymore. Try it!
2. Scary stat I heard this week…
I heard a stat this week that is EXTREMELY concerning. A study done in 2022 by the Pentagon’s Office of Personnel and Readiness found that 77% of young Americans (17-24 years old) are unfit to serve in the military. WOW!!! The reasons? Being overweight, using drugs, or having mental and physical health problems. Almost half of them (44%) were disqualified for multiple reasons. This alarms me, upsets me, and saddens me, as I would hope it does for everyone. Not only is this a concern for our national security, but shameful that we have failed to care for our youth in a proper and responsible way. Our healthcare system has been hijacked by greed, power, and a skewed sense of what health really is… and our youth are paying the ultimate price.
