1. Happy 2021!!! What you focus on this next year will matter…
2. Commitment I am making in 2021…
I posted a video a few weeks ago with Hal Elrod, author of the book Miracle Mornings, doing a keynote speech about attitude, overcoming adversity, and creating the life you want. I mentioned a movie, called The Miracle Morning Movie, that he released on December 12th. Well, we watched that movie today, and it was really good. Truth be told, my morning routine has not been very disciplined this past year. So, I am committing to his recommendations to get my day started better. He developed the acronym… S-A-V-E-R-S… which stands for Silence (Meditation) – Affirmations – Visualization – Exercise – Reading – Scribing (Journaling). I highly recommend reading the book and/or watching the movie. He has kicked off a movement that is changing lives. There is no question that incorporating his morning routine will improve my productivity, mood, energy level, and overall life.
3. Disappointing stat I heard again this week…
Approximately 80% of all New Year’s resolutions fail by the first week in February. Yikes! But not surprising. I think this happens for two big reasons… First, people set goals that are too big and too hard, and try to accomplish them in too short of time. Second, they simply state a goal, such as “I want to lose twenty pounds,” or “I want to earn more money.” Their goal is not very specific, they do not write it down, and most importantly, they lack the intensity to achieve their goal. They want the goal, but they do not resolve to achieve it. It’s a New Year’s RESOLUTION, not a New Year’s wish. Resolve involves succeeding at all cost. This means making it so important that you MUST achieve it and will do whatever it takes to succeed. Good luck in 2021… and start by going beyond just stating a goal. Write it down, be VERY specific, look at it daily, and do something EVERY single day to move closer to achieving that goal.
