1. Cool Experience…
Spending spring break in the Dominican Republic. Chartered a boat yesterday and went scuba diving. As my family swam along the coral reef, seeing stingray, squid, lobster, and thousands of amazingly colorful fish, I could not help but think how cool it is that we have the ability to go underwater, be able to breath, and explore an environment that our ancestors could only dream about. Check out the pics…. a pic taken by my son with our drone (the white boat there is the boat we chartered), a pic of us underwater, and me with the main captain, Victor.
A special thanks to Lise and her husband, Edwar, owners of El Caribe Tours for being super professional and kind, and making the day one to remember (www.eltourcaribe.com).
2. Quote…
“Living the dream!”
Ask someone how they are doing, and many respond with “Living the dream!” The problem is that they are usually saying it sarcastically, in a tone that implies that things are mundane and that they are living anything but their dreams. When I hear that, I always think that they surely are living someone’s dream. We often forget how good we have it. With many in the world making less than $2 per day and living without the freedoms and opportunities we have, we have to realize that we are living a lot of people’s dreams.
3. Work hard… play hard!
Living a great life requires balance. One of those balances needs to be between work and play. I have always subscribed to the idea of work hard… play hard! As my kids were thanking me for such a great trip while in the Dominican Republic, I reminded them that what they do not see is the hard work that goes into making a trip like this possible. We need to work hard, but we also need to play hard. According to Expedia.com’s 18th annual Vacation Deprivation study, U.S. workers took the fewest average number of vacation days in 2018 of the 19 countries surveyed. Too much work, and you’ll miss the great experiences life has to offer. Of course, all play and no work can get you into trouble. So… work hard… but play just as hard!
