1. Something that changed this week (today, actually!)…
They announced that the Cleveland Indians will officially change their name next season. I knew it was coming. The new name… The Cleveland Guardians. Part of me thinks it’s foolish to change the name, the other part doesn’t really care. People have their reasons for thinking the way they think and thinking what they think. Our whole life paradigm revolves around the meaning we give to what happens to us and what happens around us. Personally, I have always felt that a team name, like the Indians, reflected honor and respect to the origin of where it originated. I don’t know the whole history and have not followed the specifics around why some wanted the name changed, so I’d be silly to ramble on about it. I just can’t help but think as their promo video for the name change says… “You see, there’s always been ‘Cleveland’ that’s the best part of our name.” I feel bad that some took offense to the name and hope that this change helps. For me, I’ll try not to give more meaning to this change than necessary and remain glad that we have a great history, amazing memories, and still have a team. See the promo video below (narrated by Tom Hanks). You may need a twitter account to view the link.

2. Very scary stat that I re-read this week…
According to the CDC, “1 in 54 children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).” This so frightening! And what makes it scarier and even more upsetting is that we are nowhere even close to figuring out what is causing it. I look at the actions that have been taken in regards to COVID and wonder why we aren’t putting an ounce of that energy, enthusiasm, and extremism, into figuring out why 1 in 54 of our children are being affected with this. Think about that number… 1 in 54. Super scary!
3. Sticker I saw… and loved…
While at a party and waiting for the bathroom, I snapped a pic of a sticker I saw on the chalk/bulletin board. It said… LIVE A GREAT STORY. These simple words essentially sum up my whole life philosophy. Your life is YOUR story. And all stories have chapters. Some bad. Some good. If you’re in, or coming out of, a bad chapter, flip the page and start writing the next one. A better one. You are the author. What are you going to write? How epic do you want it to be? Your life is a story, unlike anyone else’s. Make your story a GREAT one! (Thanks, Giana and Aaron G!)
