1. Something cool I realized this week…
We have a healthy and robust pothos(?) plant in our dining room. I realized this week that this plant is from a piece of a plant that I took from my grandmother, Estelle Bizjak (a.k.a. Grandma Biz), when I was in college (over 30 years ago). I replanted that piece, it grew, and I have kept that plant with me and growing all this time. What’s even cooler… my daughters have taken pieces of this plant, replanted them, and have those plants for themselves. They never met their great grandmother, but to think that they have a plant that came from a plant that she had, is pretty powerful. My goal is to keep that going, and hopefully it can be something carried on through our next generations. See the pic below… of my plant, my daughter Quincy’s plant, and, since I don’t have a picture of my grandmother’s original plant, I figured I’d post a picture of my grandmother herself (an amazing human being).
2. Interesting (and odd) fact I looked into more this week…
You may have noticed that drug companies love to use the letters X, Y, and Z in the names of their drugs. This is no accident. They have found that drug names with these letters carry more weight and are perceived as more powerful, scientific, and efficacious by consumers AND physicians. Drug companies spend A LOT of money with marketing firms to come up with the most influential names possible, spending over $500,000 in some cases. Is it to save more lives? To help more people? NOPE! It is to sell more drugs and make more money. Pay attention to the use of these letters in so many of the drugs they advertise. (Read my blog this week by clicking here for more about this and the direct-to-consumer marketing by Big Pharma). Oh… and did you know that the U.S. is only one of two countries that allows the pharmaceutical companies to market directly to the public😬🤑☠️???
3. Shirt I saw last week… and loved…
Thanks, Paul S., for letting me take the pic…
