1. Some surprising facts I read this week…
I find myself digging into details and facts on some of these holidays to learn a little more about them. I have read a lot about Martin Luther King Jr. in the past, but came across an article titled “5 Things to Know: Surprising Facts About Martin Luther King Jr.” Here they are…
- Martin Luther King Jr. was named after Protestant reformer Martin Luther. His name was originally Michael King Jr., but his father changed it.
- King started college when he was 15 years old. He received his Ph.D. at the age of 25. In the seminary, he was student body president, was valedictorian, and received a “C” in his public speaking class.
- He was arrested 29 times.
- There was an assassination attempt on King a decade before his death. A woman stabbed him with a 7-inch letter opener, believing he had ties to the Communist Party.
- The King family filed a civil case against the government after his death… and won. On December 8, 1999, after only an hour of deliberation, twelve jurors unanimously found that his death was the result of a conspiracy.
His quotes are timeless, but for some reason, many of them seem VERY timely for what’s going on right now in our country. Here are a couple…
2. Motivational/inspirational cartoons I came across (and love)…
I saw a great illustration from “Success Pictures,” so I searched for them online. I came across a bunch of them (50) on boredpanda.com. They are AWESOME! I’ll post a few below, but I encourage you to check all of them out. They definitely got me thinking. Click here to see all 50 illustrations (It says “83 Illustrations,” but it was shortened to 50). They are SO GOOD!!!
3. Product I am trying (and liking so far)…
I started using a simple device that helps support the natural curvature in the neck and takes tension off the muscles. I also feel it helps to restore proper blood flow to the brain, opens the sinuses, relaxes the jaw muscles, and relieves tension on the inner ears. There are many versions of this, but the one I have is called the Rest Cloud Neck Stretcher. I bought it on Amazon, and it was less than $20. As a chiropractor, I can tell you that the curvature in your neck is CRITICAL for optimal health and function. This device will not correct your problem the way the chiropractic adjustments do, but will help support the neck and help you to feel better. I’m using it for 5-10 minutes/day about 4-5 days/week. It is small, light, and comfortable. You can check it out by clicking here.
