1. Documentary I watched this week…
We watched Sly: The Sylvester Stallone Documentary last weekend… and loved it. There was A LOT I did not know about Stallone. When it comes to high achievers and big doers, I always like to get more of the back story. It is usually loaded with adversity, crazy hard work, taking chances, and a whole lot of nay-sayers. Stallone had ALL of that. One thing he said that got me thinking was… work on your strengths, not your weaknesses. (Since I had just heard that same exact message on a podcast an hour earlier, I thought I should probably take note of it.) It’s definitely worth watching. See the trailer below…
2. Absolutely terrifying stats that I read this week…
We know the health of our country is terrible. Mental health is now declining rapidly. The stats that are most upsetting are the ones related to children… those hit me the hardest. If we don’t care enough to take a stand for ourselves, we’ve got an absolute OBLIGATION to take that stand for our children. Here is the latest I just read this week… all of which relate to TEENAGE GIRLS…
54% report being persistently sad (That is more than half!!!)
32% have contemplated suicide (That is almost 1/3!!!)
24% planned to kill themselves (That is almost ¼!!!)
13% have TRIED to kill themselves!!!
3. Image and message I love…
I saw this earlier this week. There are a bunch like it on Instagram (@successpicture), and I love them. This one has a message that I’ve preached to my kids over and over when they were young. When they would be in awe of someone doing something impressive, I would always say the same quote… All masters were once a disaster! The image below captures this a bit… People won’t see your struggles. They will only see your success.
