1. Documentary I watched…
I recently watched the documentary Fantastic Fungi. It is so good! (Thanks for the recommendation, Jack!) I love learning more about things I think I already know and understand. The medicinal potential of mushrooms is incredible. They are extremely powerful, amazingly safe, cannot be patented, and treatments utilizing mushrooms (for difficult to treat conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental disorders) often only require one, two, or maybe three treatments. My only fear is that their full potential will be slowed, or even blocked, because they threaten Big Pharma’s monopoly on medicine. There is a huge movement building up behind these mushrooms, and it’s worth checking out. I watched Fantastic Fungi a few weeks ago, but since then have listened to several podcast and read more, and I think mushrooms can be a very safe and affordable way to make a huge impact on conditions we are currently handling very poorly. Oh… and the images and video footage in this documentary are stunning (I love time-lapsed videos!). See the trailer below.
2. Quote I love…
“We never know how far reaching something we think, say, or do today will affect the lives of millions tomorrow.” -B.J. Palmer
3. Wellness tip…
We know exercise is critical for optimal health. Most focus on cardio… running, biking, hiking, swimming, etc. I strongly encourage you to put more emphasis on strength training. You need to build muscle! It is super important (and necessary) to do resistance training with weights. If you are new to it, I would highly recommend getting with a personal trainer for one month to figure out the proper weight to use and to ensure that you are using proper form. Start easy… but start NOW! More lean muscle mass will help with balance, support your joints, help normalize blood sugar, balance hormones, and create a better resting metabolism (so you burn more fat). Don’t skip the cardio, but ADD WEIGHT TRAINING. Click here for an article with more info on the importance and benefits of building muscle.
