1. Video that moved me this week…
I am not sure where I saw it initially, but I watched a video of a chimpanzee, named Limbani, reuniting with her caretakers after six years. I was not able to include the video in this post, but you can click here for the Yahoo news story which contains the video. I hope it moves you like it moved me. And catch Limbani’s huge smile when she gives the guy the first hug. It’s AWESOME!
2. Dangerous weight-loss trend (that won’t end well)…
There is a lot of hype around the new injectable diabetes medication that people are using for weight loss. The two drugs trending hard are Ozempic and Mounjaro. They are glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) inhibitors which stimulate insulin production and slow stomach emptying. It affects satiation, which is hunger. They are for diabetics and severely obese people with serious health conditions. Well… non-diabetics are using these drugs strictly to lose weight. And it’s trending HARD. Obviously, there are major issues and significant dangers with taking these drugs. I have heard doctors say that there is severe vomiting and diarrhea for the first 2-3 weeks. I think the one doctor said that 75% of the trial participants stopped the drug within one year due to the severity of side effects. Side effects may include thyroid cancer (yikes!) and permanent hair loss. Another BIG concern one doctor expressed is that a significant portion of the weight loss is not body fat, but muscle mass. This can help explain why people taking the drugs start to look odd. The appearance of their face changes… looking gaunt and looking older. They are even calling it “Ozempic face.” There are other potential side effects too… dizziness, increased heart rate, infections, headaches, and more. The bottom line… it is NOT SAFE. It would have to be taken for the rest of your life, because once you stop, the weight lost comes right back. Diabetics, for whom the drug was created, are having trouble getting it because of so many people taking it just to lose weight. This is a very scary and dangerous drug that will wreak havoc on millions of people. I believe these drugs will eventually be pulled from the market once people start dying, much like other weight loss drugs in the past. But… not before Big Pharma rakes in billions of dollars in profits. And shame on any doctor prescribing these drugs to anyone other than diabetics and morbidly obese patients. It should be considered malpractice! My prediction… People will be unable to stay on it because of the side effects. They will gain all the weight back, plus more, when they stop. New, and more serious side effects, that currently are unknown, will start showing up. People will start dying as a result of taking these drugs. Eventually, these drugs will be pulled from the market. And it won’t be long before the television ads start popping up from lawyers representing class-action lawsuits that will surely be coming against the drug companies. Oh… and the doctors will say “Oops! We were misled by the drug companies.”
3. Another video sharing something special, with another uplifting message…
I LOVE videos that expand my mind… renew my faith in human beings… and inspire me. Check out this GREAT idea by a guy in Tokyo, Japan, named Shiro Oguni. He opened a restaurant, and every server working there suffers from memory loss. His restaurant is called The Restaurant of Mistaken Orders. It turns out that 37% of the time, the orders are incorrect… but 99% of the time, the guests left “quite happy.” Make sure to listen to the old folk tale at the end. Again… I hope these videos and messages rock you like they rocked me. Enjoy!
