1. Quote I’ve been thinking about…
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” -Mahatma Gandhi
We live in a world where people talk A LOT, but do VERY LITTLE. With all that is going on in our country right now, I took some time to reflect on what I think versus what I say versus how I act. Change involves ideas, goals, and intentions, but requires action. The one person you have the most control over, and where you can make the biggest change, is yourself. Some say Gandhi never actually spoke those exact words, but those words are very powerful. Here are words Gandhi definitely said… “If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him… We need not wait to see what others do.”
2. Book I’m currently listening to…
I am currently listening to Jared Diamond’s Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies. Diamond is an American geographer and author of several books. I read The World Until Yesterday: What Can We Learn From Traditional Societies? He has spent a lot of time with primitive hunter-gatherer people and has some very good and thought-provoking information. I have been intrigued with how our ancestors lived and have studied them for years. I believe our departure from living like wild humans is how we have become so sick. So, it makes sense to learn more about how our ancestors ate, moved, and thought. Combining this ancestral wisdom with modern technology is the key to optimal health and longevity.
3. Recommendation I am making…
Stop watching the news! Go on a media diet.
