1. Quote…
“Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time and always start with the person nearest you.” ― Mother Teresa
Years ago, I remember someone asking me in a sarcastic tone if I thought I was going to change the world. I was young and almost embarrassingly said “no.” Later on I thought about it, realized I did want to change the world, but realized that was a huge task. Then I thought about how each one of us has our own world, and if I could change the life of one person, then I changed his or her world. So, as Mother Teresa said… help one person… and start with the person nearest you. Do that today!
2. Article I read…
There was an article in the New York Post titled, “A bottle of wine a week is as bad as smoking 10 cigarettes: study.” I’m not going to paste the link to that article because I do not want you to waste your time reading it. It’s headlines like this that mislead people. The authors were trying to make a point to raise cancer risk awareness regarding alcohol consumption and thought comparing it to cigarettes would be a good idea. While I believe the health benefits of wine have been overstated in the press over the years, less than one glass of wine per day can’t be the worst thing in the world. And there is no discussion of what type of wine. Obviously, drinking wine that is healthier, more pure, and with less additives would be better and safer that other wines. Companies like Dry Farm Wines finds wines that are “All natural & additive- free, lab tested for purity, and sugar-free & low alcohol.” I’m not a big wine drinker, and I am not telling you to drink more or less wine, but wanted to use the above article to warn you about ridiculous headlines that give you little or no valuable information, but might mislead you.
3. Move toward wellness…
As the spring season rolls in, make sure you get outdoors. We all agree that increased physical activity is not only good for human health, but an absolute requirement. What you might find surprising is that being physically active outdoors is much more beneficial than doing it inside. Outdoor air is less polluted than indoor air, you’ll get a boost of vitamin D, you breath in more diverse and healthier bacteria from leaves and grasses, and your mind and joints get a wider variety of stimulation due to the uneven terrain and changing scenery. GET OUTSIDE! Click here for a quick summary of a systematic review of this subject.
I love the quote “never worry about the numbers” so very true in many things……..never worry about the numbers on the scale….just keep pushing ahead……never worry about your age numbers….be glad you are still hear to count the amount of birthdays you have celebrated!!!
