1. Incredible feat we watched this week…
Netflix aired its live coverage of Skyscraper Live, which documented the climbing of the Taipei 101 skyscraper in Taiwan, a 1,667-foot building, by free solo climber Alex Honnold. A few things that made this event extraordinary… Honnold did not use any ropes or safety harnesses, no one has ever free soloed this building before, and it was filmed LIVE. As you know by now, I LOVE seeing humans breaking records and doing the “impossible.” So, I loved this event. The complete event lasted just under two hours and was filled with heart-pounding, adrenaline pumping, and emotion-tugging moments. I’m not sure if watching the recorded version will be quite as entertaining, knowing the outcome, but I’m sure it is still worth watching. I posted another documentary featuring Alex Honnold years ago, called Free Solo, about his free solo of El Capitan (the first ever) because of how incredible that climb was. If not interested in watching the entire Skyscraper Live, you can probably find highlight clips on YouTube or Google to at least get the gist and see some of Honnold’s amazing moments. It was impressive!
2. Quote I love…
“Compete externally and you compare. Compete internally and you improve.” – James Clear
I like the idea of observing and admiring the accomplishments of others. That motivates me and expands my mind to know what’s possible. There is no room for jealousy. And instead of comparing yourself to others, you can compare your life as it is now to where you want to be. And use the accomplishments and other things that you admire about someone else’s life as proof that it is possible. Then GET TO WORK! Life isn’t about outdoing others, it’s about outdoing yourself. What are YOU capable of? What can YOU do? What’s the best version of YOU?
3. Emotional post I saw this week…
I like the idea that there can be so much power in words, videos, or pictures. The fact that something so simple can have such an impact is amazing. I saw a post this week that definitely moved me. It stopped me for a bit. I think it is an older post, but this is the first time I’ve seen it. Definitely worth sharing…
