1. Recent event…
I hate running, I am not a great swimmer, and I have not biked much, so a triathlon would seem like an unlikely endeavor for me to sign up for. Fortunately, there are shortened versions of athletic events like these. That’s why every year I do the Cleveland Triathlon. There is the Olympic, MegaSprint, Sprint, and SuperSprint versions. My son and I do the SuperSprint. It is fun, involves physical activity, challenges us, and does not require much training and preparation. This year my son beat me (for the first time), and placed 3rd overall. So congrats to him! I encourage you to engage in activities that involve physical activity, are outside, and challenge your physical abilities. There are so many advantages to pushing yourself like that. Events like the Cleveland Triathlon even have a Youth division, allowing family members of all ages to participate. Consider local runs or walks, hikes, bikes, or swims. You certainly can find something that fits your level of fitness and that you could enjoy.

2. Something to ponder…
As you leave Cleveland airport, there is a large billboard you cannot miss, which has been rented by one of the large hospital systems for as long as I can remember. I’m always intrigued by the messages they put up there. As I passed it earlier this week, I saw their newest advertisement… “Over 200 locations in Northeast Ohio.” At first this might strike you as impressive, but I want to remind you that our healthcare system is failing miserably, and the mainstream medical model is very broken. It is good at diagnosing conditions, great at dispensing medicine, and works hard at developing new procedures, but DOES NOT make sick people well. We need doctors, nurses, and hospitals for crisis care, but you have to look elsewhere for wellness and prevention. Therefore… these hospital systems could have 1000 locations in Northeast Ohio, and it would do nothing to lower the chronic illness crisis we are in. More doctors, more medicine, and more hospitals DOES NOT equal more health and wellness.
3. Movie I’d recommend…
If you’re like me, and spend 20-30 minutes flipping through the Amazon Fire TV Stick (which I also love and is under $40) looking for a movie to watch, let me save you some time. Watch About Time. This is a movie that got little attention, but I really loved. It starts out a bit slow, but picks up speed, and has a very deep and powerful message that will have an impact on your life. I won’t share any more details, so as not to spoil it for you. Just watch it!
