1. Article I revisited…
Two years ago, I saw an article that rocked me. Why it didn’t rock everyone, I do not know. The title? “Goldman Sachs asks in biotech research report: ‘Is curing patients a sustainable business model?’” We all know drug companies are not in the business of curing disease, but aim to make much more money with ongoing treatment. We know this, but to see it written in a letter from Goldman Sachs to investors is amazing. In regards to new gene therapies potentially offering cures, their analyst wrote, “While this proposition carries tremendous value for patients and society, it could represent a challenge for genome medicine developers looking for sustained cash flow.” ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Folks… if you are waiting for a cure for cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, M.S., or any other significant condition plaguing Americans today… you must understand that it WILL NOT come from your doctor, the hospital, or big pharma. Medicine is BIG BUSINESS!!! And we know they think this way, but to see it in writing??? So sad! 2. Fast I did this week…
I decided Tuesday night to do a water-only fast until the next evening. This would have been a 24-hour fast. Once dinner rolled around Wednesday night, I figured I’d just go until the next morning, making it a 36-hour fast. When I woke up Thursday, I decided to skip breakfast and just eat lunch. It was a busy day, so I decided to skip lunch and wait until dinner, making it a 48-hour water-only fast. I believe fasting is the single most powerful biohack you can do to reboot, detox, and turbocharge your body. It costs nothing… and frees up a lot of time due to no prepping, cooking, or cleaning up meals. Most people hit a point during a fast where they are not hungry anymore. People with inflammatory bowel issues (irritable bowel, Crohn’s, etc.) should not do water-only. And people with diabetes and on certain medications should consult a healthcare professional. Intermittent fasting has been proven to help with weight loss, insulin resistance, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, inflammation, memory, cognitive function, and more.
3. Image I loved…
I was sent an image this week (thanks, Marin M.) that I really loved. At the top it says Things I Can Control. And there is a pie chart with seven things that ARE within our control. At a time when there is great effort to control what we think, what we feel, what we should believe, and how we should act, it is easy to get overwhelmed with emotions such as frustration, anger, resentment, helplessness, and even feel anxiety and depression. The cool thing… WE HAVE CONTROL OVER A LOT! This was a good reminder for me and came at a good time. Here is that image…
