1. Cool video footage I re-watched this week…
I am a fan of drones,… and I am a fan of fireworks. So, the two together is a definite hit. My brother had sent this video a few years ago (thanks, Greg!), and I re-watched it this week. It is a drone flying through a huge firework display, set to some great music. Check it out! And… I forgot to wish everyone a Happy July 4th last week. I love that we celebrate the freedoms we have worked so hard to enjoy.
2. Inspiring story I read this week…
I saw Rebel Wilson on the cover of People magazine with the quote, “It Was Time To Change.” So, I read the article, and it was good. Turns out, she has a desire to get pregnant, and a fertility doctor told her she would do much better if she was healthier. Her first response was thinking the doctor was rude suggesting she would fare better if she lost weight, but then she realized he was right. She lost more than 80 lbs. Wow! She said “It wasn’t a goal to get to a certain weight. I wanted to be the healthiest version of myself.” I LOVE that! What a goal… to be the healthiest version of yourself. ***Side note… The New York Post ran an article stating that the staff at People magazine was upset with the editor for letting that story run. They were very critical of the doctor, saying that he fat-shamed her. The title of the Post article is “People magazine staffers outraged over ‘fat-shaming’ Rebel Wilson issue.” It says that People magazine staffers were “appalled.” Outraged? Appalled? Fat-shaming? Not sure what your thoughts are on this, but no one was criticizing Rebel Wilson for her weight. A trained medical expert stated a fact to help her understand how to better achieve her goal (to conceive). Oh… and it worked! She lost 80 lbs. and is thrilled with how she looks and feels. Impressive transformation!
3. Most disgusting thing I watched this week…
Somehow, we got sucked into watching this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. The “top-ranked eater in the world,” Joey Chestnut, won again (he has won the last 15 out of 16 contests), eating an incredible 63 hot dogs in ten minutes. His record is 76. Watching these contestants stuff these hot dogs into their mouths was one of those situations when you want to cover your eyes or look away, but just can’t. One thing we concluded while watching… we are a bizarre species! Disgusting!
