1. Word I learned this week…
Euthymia: A Greek word used by Seneca in his essay on tranquility, he defined as “believing in yourself and trusting that you are on the right path, and not being in doubt by following the myriad footpaths of those wandering in every direction.” I came across it this week while reading another Ryan Holiday book, Ego is the Enemy. He shares this… “According to Seneca, the Greek word euthymia is one we should think of often: it is the sense of our own path and how to stay on it without getting distracted by all the others that intersect it. In other words, it’s not about beating or having more than the other guy. It’s not about having more than others. It’s about being what you are, and being as good as possible at it, without succumbing to all the things that draw you away from it. It’s about going where you set out to go. About accomplishing the most you’re capable of in what you choose. That’s it. No more and no less.”
2. A project my daughter and I completed…
My daughter, Quincy, came to me asking to do a project in her room that she saw on Pinterest. It was a letter board for her room. It is basically strips of wood that you can slide those plastic letters in to create sentences and quotes. I loved the idea! With help of a woodworking expert friend (thanks Mike T.), we got it done and hung this week. Here are some pics of the process (that’s Quincy with the drill)… with great words up at the end. Okay… okay… I made Quincy put those words up…
3. Great lines/scene from a movie…
Here is a quick clip from the movie, Hugo. A really, really good movie, worth watching if you haven’t (or even if you have) seen it. I’ve used this clip in talks I’ve done to stress the point that, as humans, we need to have purpose. And to stress the point that WE ALL HAVE A PURPOSE! If you are here on this earth… you are meant to be here… you are here for a reason… and you HAVE A PURPOSE! Watch the clip. And please pass this Friday’s Findings on to a friend if you know anyone that needs to hear this information.
