1. Something I’m SUPER proud of…
Tomorrow marks the 250th anniversary of the United States. This is an incredible milestone. I feel extremely lucky to have been born in this country and to be an American. We have so much to be proud of. And I’m EXTREMELY grateful for the men and women who have served and fought for our country. When I watch movies or documentaries about World War I and World War II and other historical pieces, I am reminded of the courage, intelligence, and toughness it has taken for us to be who we are and to have what we have. The United States is remarkable! I am PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!
2. Something I love to do…
I’ve water skied my whole life. The past couple of years, we started doing what is called wake foiling. It’s done on what looks like a small surf board, but has a foil, or tall wing-like fin underneath it. You get up right behind the boat with a short rope, ride along the curl of the wake put out by the boat, toss the rope back in the boat, and ride up on the foil as the wake pushes you along. There is no motor… the motion comes from the push of the wave or by pumping your legs in a way that keeps the foil moving through the water. The feeling is unlike any other. It’s fun, has a surfing-type feel, and isn’t too hard on the body. Last weekend was the first time out on the water this year (which is the latest I have EVER gone😬), and it was a BLAST. Check out the quick video below of some of last week’s ride… and I threw in some festive music just for fun…
3. Three things I’m thinking about this July 4th…
I tend to use holidays as opportunities to do a few things… reflect on what I am grateful for… be around people I love and enjoy… and get excited about the future. In the day-to-day hustle, it’s easy to take things for granted and forget how good we have it. On days off, or when things slow down a bit, I tend to think more deeply about the things I am grateful for. A lot of our time gets sucked up with obligations, commitments, and to-do lists. Holidays are a time to set aside time to be with the people that we truly care about and love to be around. And when I get a break, and things slow down on these special days, I try to reset my focus, think about where I want to be going, what I want my life to look like moving forward, and I think about my goals. We all have so much to be grateful for… we all have special people in our lives that we must make more time for… and we all need to reset, rethink, and renew our goals. One thing I am truly grateful for is the trust that so many people put in me when it comes to the care I provide in my office and the information I provide in these Friday’s Findings and my blogs (So, thank YOU!). And this weekend, I’ll be around my favorite people on the planet… Lana and our six children… Marin, Emma, Jack, Quincy, Luke, and Kyle. This weekend, take a moment to do these three things… (1.) Reflect on what you are grateful for (it can start with being grateful for being an American!)… (2.) Get around people you truly enjoy… and (3.) Think about what you want your future to look like and set some new goals. Happy Fourth of July!!!
